I love painting ACEO artworks because they allow for multiple snapshots of a moment. I keep note of the colours so that I can translate them into landscape painting ideas in the future.

This one is painted on smooth Aquafine paper, 3.5 x 2.5 inches in size and aims to capture a feeling. Sometimes, when the light changes so quickly, all you can do is swish a few strokes of paint before its gone.

A loose, miniature seascape painting inspired by Brittany, France.

More about atmosphere than perfection, this little watercolour artwork is one of my preparatory sketches for larger works. That said, ACEO paintings are art in their own right, so if you’re a collector this is for you! At 3.5 x 2.5 inches they are fun for me to paint, and a great way to start an affordable art collection.

Many famous artists found inspiration in Brittany, and I’m treading in their footsteps this year.
